Come 2019 and the election fever grips India. Past experience reveals that the majority of the elected member of parliaments and legislative assemblies have criminal antecedents and cases on them range from rape, murder and the spread of communal hatred. Can we learn from what Ants and Bees do for their survival? While each member of the swarm (an ant or a bee or a fish or an ignorant voter) is clueless about survival collectively they develop group intelligence that takes them to a food source or survival from predators. This is classic Swarm Intelligence. Swarm Intelligence modelling is now extensively used in all artificial intelligence paradigms. Read this quote from Rosenberg 'Why are swarms better than polls? Our analysis suggests that while polls are good at characterising the average views of a population, without real-time feedback control, polls offer no means for groups to explore options and find consensus. Swarms, on the other hand, allow users to continually update their intent in real-time, assessing how their views combine with the other participants to achieve an acceptable outcome. In this way, each participant in a swarm is not expressing a singular view but is continually assessing his own personal conviction across the range of possible options, weighing his confidence and preference in real time. With all participants doing this in synchrony, the swarm quickly converges on solutions that seem to maximize the collective confidence and preference of the full group.
We believe this is why swarms are able to efficiently capture the group’s wisdom.'
We @ EcoDev are using Swarm Intelligence modelling to control and influence ( not manipulate) farmer behaviour to ensure greater yield and productivity with better safety practices.
